4 Foods that help with anxiety and stress

Stress and anxiety can trigger depression symptoms and take a toll on productivity at work. A calm body and mind can help you remain fresh and relaxed during a heavy work day so make sure to include the following ingredients to your diet to keep your coolness throughout the day!

Sardines:

Fresh sardines are delicious and inexpensive. They are also very rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are said to prevent a number of health problems, including heart disease, arthritis, Alzheimer’s and even certain types of cancer. They help maintain brain cells active and the sensation of mental alertness.

According to a study done by the Ohio University, omegas 3’s are capable of helping reduce stress and anxiety by almost 20%. Omega 3’s help the body transform carbohydrates and retain them as glucose, the body’s main energy source, instead of fats.

Nuts and Dried fruits:

Nuts, almonds, hazelnuts, figs and other dried fruits are incredibly rich in proteins, fiber, minerals, vitamins and unsaturated fats. They contain vitamins A, B, and C and are said to help relieve fatigue and stress.

Avocado:

Many people skip on avocadoes due to their high calorie count (an average 322 calories per unit), however, it is important to highlight that it is incredibly rich in Potassium, containing 60% more than bananas. Avocados are also great fat burning foods and by adding them to other fat burning foods, you can improve your nutrient absorption by up to 400%. Avocados help regulate blood pressure, can help prevent heart attacks and brain hemorrhages, and alongside Vitamin E and B6 it can increase libido and sexual performance.

Garbanzo beans (Chickpeas):

Also valued for their fiber content, garbanzo beans contain other nutrients such as manganese, iron, copper, zinc and magnesium that protect us against cardiovascular diseases and anxiety. Chickpeas also trigger the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain responsible for generating feelings of pleasure.
